Britta Grubin, PetGrief.com Founder
Created from one deeply important realization.

Why PetGrief.com Exists

PetGrief.com was created from one simple but deeply important realization — grieving pet parents need immediate emotional support, validation, understanding and peace after the loss of their beloved animal companion. Pet parents need to know that their pet is safe.

Founder Britta Grubin saw a major gap in the pet loss and grief space. Pet parents love deeply. They build entire lives around their animals — daily routines, memories, comfort, safety, laughter and unconditional love. A beloved pet becomes woven into the emotional fabric of a family. Then when that pet dies, the silence can feel unbearable. Pet loss and pet grief can feel incredibly isolating.

The grief is not "small."

It is not "just a dog" or "just a cat."

For many people, experiencing pet loss is like losing a soul pet and can feel like losing part of themselves. The intense grief takes many pet parents by surprise, many feeling the loss is more intense than losing an immediate family member.

The Need to Feel Connected Again

After personally connecting one to one with more than 4,000 grieving pet parents in the last seven years, Britta deeply understands the overwhelming need people feel to know their beloved pet is still close. To feel them. To sense them. To know the love did not disappear with physical death.

Again and again, grieving pet parents shared the same heartbreak.

"I just need to know they are okay."

"I just want to feel connected to them again."

"I cannot imagine never seeing them again."

Britta recognized that this longing for connection is often part of the healing journey itself.

Not replacing grief.

Not bypassing grief.

But softening the unbearable weight of it through love, reassurance, emotional support and the understanding that our pets remain deeply connected to us beyond this physical world.

A place where love remains
A softer way. A heart-centered way.

Why PetGrief.com Was Created

At the same time, Britta also recognized the lack of dedicated support, education and understanding available for grieving pet parents experiencing pet loss. Everywhere she looked, pet grief was treated very clinically, as an addition to something else — a small section within general grief, mental health or wellness conversations. It was rarely the main focus or had a spiritual connection.

Yet for the grieving pet parent, it is the main event.

The loss can feel life altering.

The heartbreak can feel consuming.

The loneliness can feel overwhelming.

Britta believed grieving pet parents deserved a space created specifically for them. A place where their pet grief would not be minimized, rushed, or misunderstood. A place where pet loss support began with the pet parent first and foremost.

Britta believed there needed to be another way.

A softer way.

A heart centered way.

A more soulful way.

Grief Is More Than Emotion

PetGrief.com was born from the understanding that grief is not just emotional. It is energetic, physical, spiritual and deeply personal. At the core essence of who we are, we are soulful beings having a human experience. Our pets walk beside us through that journey, offering unconditional love, companionship, grounding, healing and emotional support through every season of life.

When they leave their physical bodies, the grief can feel gutting.

For many pet parents, it can feel difficult to function, sleep, eat, work, or even imagine moving forward. Britta wanted to create a place where grieving pet parents could arrive and immediately feel held, understood and safe.

Not placed on the sidelines.

Not made to feel dramatic for grieving "just a pet."

Not disconnected from the spiritual and soulful nature of their bond.

But truly seen.

A Place Where Love Remains

PetGrief.com was intentionally designed to bridge emotional support with spiritual understanding, helping grieving pet parents feel less alone while gently opening the door to hope, healing, signs, reconnection and the understanding that love continues.
